drophost MCP API key

Prefer browser sign-in for Claude or ChatGPT.Use an API key when you need scripts, CI, or a client that cannot open a login window. Keys are shown once, stored as a hash, and work for MCP and the HTTP API. You can keep up to five keys per account. Plan limits still apply.API keys for scripts
  • Shown once, stored as a hash
  • For scripts when sign-in is not available
  • Revoke anytime in Settings

How to do it

  1. 1. Open Settings

Sign in and go to Dashboard Settings.

  2. 2. Create and copy

Name the key and copy the dh_ secret plus the client snippet. The secret is not stored in plaintext.

  3. 3. Revoke if needed

Revoke the key in Settings. Agents using it stop immediately.

Create in Settings

Sign in, open Settings → Agent publish. For chat clients, paste the MCP URL and sign in. For scripts, name a key and copy it immediately — it is shown once.

Use the key

Send the key as Authorization: Bearer dh_… on /api/mcp and /api/v1. Copy-paste snippets for Cursor, VS Code, Claude Desktop, and Claude Code are in Settings after you create a key. Full reference: /docs/api-keys and /docs/mcp.

Rotate and revoke

Revoke a key in Settings when a laptop leaves the team or a secret leaks — then create a replacement (five keys max). Revoking does not change project URLs already published.

Common questions

How do I create a drophost API key?

Sign in, open Settings, create a key, and copy it once. drophost stores an HMAC hash, not the secret.

How many keys can I have?

Five API keys per drophost account. Revoke one to create another.

What if a key leaks?

Revoke it in drophost Settings. Create a new key and update your MCP client.
