drophost
Upload files with drophost MCP
- Sign in once from Settings
- Same live URL as the dashboard
- Plan limits still apply
How to do it
1. Create an API key
Open Settings, name the key, and copy the secret. It is shown once.
2. Connect your client
Paste the snippet for your MCP client. The URL is /api/mcp with Authorization: Bearer.
3. Ask the agent to publish
It calls publish_file and returns a live drophost URL.
Connect once
Paste the MCP URL from Settings into Claude or ChatGPT and sign in when prompted. Scripts can use an API key instead. Full copy-paste setup lives on /mcp.
Publish a file
Ask your agent to publish a file. It returns a live URL. Optional subdomain and project keep or set the link you want. Details for tool parameters are in the MCP docs.
Connect once, then publish from chat
Open Settings → Agent publish, paste the MCP URL into Claude or ChatGPT, and sign in when prompted. Scripts can use an API key instead. Ask the agent to publish a file; it returns a live URL. Chat uploads max out at 4 MB — larger files use the dashboard or HTTP API.
Plan limits apply to agent publishes
On drophost, Free allows one project and 2 MB. Starter at €5/mo raises that to 8 projects and 100 MB with passwords and custom domains. Pro at €12/mo reaches 30 projects and 500 MB. Use the HTTP API when files exceed the 4 MB chat upload cap while keeping plan quotas intact.
Common questions
How do I upload a file with MCP?
Create a drophost API key in Settings, connect /api/mcp, and use publish_file with the filename and base64 bytes.
Does MCP skip plan limits?
No. On drophost, project count, file size, and PDF sharing follow the same plans as the dashboard.
Can I attach to an existing project?
Yes. Call drophost list_projects, then pass project_id. A filename clash returns FILE_EXISTS.
Where do I put the API key?
Paste the Streamable HTTP URL https://drophost.space/api/mcp and Authorization: Bearer into Claude or ChatGPT. Settings → Agent publish shows a ready-to-paste snippet.
