drophost
Password protect a file on drophost
- Optional on your project
- Works on all supported file types
- Change or remove the password anytime
How to do it
1. Upload the file
Add the PDF, Word doc, image, text file, or static site to a project.
2. Upgrade if you are on Free
Password protection is on Starter and Pro. Upgrade, then set a password on the project.
3. Share the URL separately
Send the link in one channel and the password in another.
When to use it
Early drafts, legal docs, and anything that should not show up in a forwarded Slack channel without friction.
Works with PDFs and more
Password protection works with PDFs, Word, text, and image projects.
Passwords are a Starter feature
Password protection on drophost starts with Starter at €5/mo or €50/yr—alongside PDF, custom domains, analytics, branding removal, 8 projects, and 100 MB. Free hosts HTML, Word, text, Markdown, CSV, and images without a password gate, so upgrade when the share must stay confidential.
Share confidentially without recipient accounts
Set a password on the drophost project, paste the URL, and recipients unlock in the browser—no Drive invites. Replace the file anytime; the protected URL stays. Pro at €12/mo keeps the same password feature at 30 projects and 500 MB when your confidential library grows.
